FAQ’s
Do you combine shipping?
Yes, we will make every effort to package your items together, in one box, with one tracking number. In some cases, this will not be possible, under that circumstance, we would inform you prior to shipping your items.
Are your items stored in a smoke-free environment?
Yes.
What happens if I need to return an item?
Please see shipping page for instructions. NOTE: All items we sell are sold “as-is” and /or “as found” in regards to its condition. That being said, there are times when a refund is truly needed, communicating your requests / needs to us are paramount in order for us to assist you and to insure the best possible outcome for you as a buyer. As stated above, please review instructions on shipping & handling page.
Are your items reproductions?
No, we make every effort, when an occasion rises, to verify the authenticity of our items. We do not sell modern fakes/repros. There may be times when we may offer a “vintage reproduction”…(i e; a 1960’s reprint of an uncommon / rare book/ephemera) in that case, it will marked and noted as such.
How will my items be handled and/or shipped?
Most, or all, items will be shipped using USPS priority and 1st-class advantage services. Items such as a Victorian trade card/booklets/ephemera will be inserted in protective sleeves/sheeting , and w/ backing/cardboard etc..as an extra measure of protection. Fragile items will be packed extra securely, and marked as such several times on the exterior of the box. We cannot help what accidents may or may not occur once it leaves our property, but as long as we have it, we will take every measure to insure safe handling/packaging.
Will my items be insured?
Yes. All orders valued up to $100 are covered FREE of charge thru the USPS. Additional coverage will be required in order to protect both you (the buyer), and ourselves (the seller). The proper level of insurance, as well as any signature confirmations are pre-calculated, along with shipping & handling cost /fees, and are included in the item’s cost itself. The price that you see in your cart, is THE price. No additional costs / fees besides a Vermont 6% sales tax, will be incurred upon you.
How is sales tax calculated?
Vermont residents are required to pay an additional 6% sales tax. Buyers from any other state are not required to pay any sales tax, due to the fact that we have not reached “nexus” requirements as of yet. If and when that occurs, then we will have your state listed in order to comply with any state sales tax laws. If you do not see any tax amount listed to your items in your cart, then you will be exempt from having to pay the sales tax.
“If you collect, collect Curios!”
Curio: a small, unusual, or interesting object that is often collected and has a perceived value above and beyond an ordinary “knick-knack”. A decorative object considered novel, rare, or odd: a curiosity. Synonyms: antique or vintage trinkets.
Here at Curios, we pride ourselves on locating, curating, and presenting vintage pre-’60s collectibles and antique curios of a smaller size. We do not offer vehicles or boats, and we do not dabble in furniture. We do not sell nor wish to sell any clothing, no food, no soft drinks, absolutely NOTHING bearing the mark, ‘Made in China”, nor any modern upc codes (circa 1974 or newer) will be on any of our items.
Curios: The Origin Story
After experiencing multiple setbacks selling in local ‘antique shops’ (maybe 15% were actually vintage/antique items), and having repeated issue at one of the larger online platforms (i.e. having items flagged for removal and not having a human being to talk to in regards to that issue), I’ve decided the best way to deal with these ongoing problems was to eliminate them by starting Curios.
I’ve had a passion for buying, selling, trading, & collecting for well over a decade now, so I see things from every angle. I wanted to create a platform without a lot of “hype” or “bling” to it. Curios is a site in which you won’t need to shuffle through “cheap vintage” to find a good-quality vintage collectible, nor will you not need to get a second mortgage on your home to buy that one piece of Cartier you wanted, because we won’t have it. On our site, we promote the attainable…the vintage / antiques that aren’t “at the bottom of the barrel” in terms of quality so to speak, nor do we strive to sell you the items that for most collectors are simply “out of reach”, financially speaking.
Being a child of the 80’s, and from the state of Massachusetts, I’ve developed a saying , a term in which I tend to use for my very most favorite collectible antique items” “Wicked Cool & Mega-Awesome!” . This term reflects my passion and excitement for presenting and offering our really unique and interesting items for sale.
One difference we offer through our shopping experience here at Curios, is the “one-price to pay” at time of check-out. The price that you see for an item is “THE PRICE” you will be paying. (unless you happen to be a Vermont residents, which will show a 6% sales tax, required by law for us to charge, and remit to the state). I wanted to offer a price on items that covered everything: 1) the item’s value, 2) professional and safe & secure shipping & handling, …and 3) proper insurance & signature confirmations (required by USPS on all items valued at $500 and higher).
In ending, I want to stress the importance of collecting from a collector’s point of view. As collectors of vintage and antique Curios / collectibles, we also share, I find, an interest in history. As collectors, we set ourselves up as life-guards, protectors of historical items. Items we share with loved ones, friends, and acquaintances mean something to us. At Curios, we want to share our interest in history, our interest in tangible items that once meant something , to someone…and now, they can mean something to you. Allow us to share with you our history, our collectibles…because if you have to collect…you have to collect Curios.
Deep appreciation for spending a small part of your history, with us!
