Measures Approx: 1 inches in diameter. Pope Leo xiii was Pope from 1878 - 1903, when he died at the age of 93, a 25 year reign. One of the most revered Popes of modern ages. This pin-back most likely may date from 1903, as a mourning pin, although it doesn’t mention that or isn’t in the style of a mourning pin, it still may be just that. Does have some staining/ almost ‘fauxing’ to it, feels like a leathery material, but most likely is celluloid on top. No markings on the back. A more uncommon - rare design of the Pope compared to others I have seen. ( actually, this is the only one I have seen of this particular design.) Pope Leo XIII is written on very bottom of his image, and the end of the pin extends beyond the pin itself slightly .
